Why not donate your Zakat al-Fitr to the needy in Palestine?
Zakat al-Fitr, which is regularly referred to as Fitrana, is one of the obligatory acts that Muslims must undertake during the Holy month of Ramadan. Every Ramadan, Education Aid for Palestinians (EAP) distributes Fitrana as part of the Ramadan projects.
Ramadan 2019 is an extremely special month for EAP and our target is to reach 10,000 families in the West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem which consists of more than 60,000 individuals within the whole of Ramadan.
EAP divides Zakat al-Fitr into three different periods. Firstly, we have the first ten days of Ramadan. Secondly, we have the second ten days of Ramadan and finally, the last ten days which are the most crucial.
Additional to the 4,400 families we reached since the start of Ramadan, we have now reached a further 500 families providing them with Fitrana. We targeted the most needy in Khan Younis and two areas in the North of the Gaza Strip.
The amount to be paid is described by the Messenger of Allah (saw) as one saa’ of food which is equivalent to four madd. A madd is the amount that can be scooped up when one puts their hands together. The monetary equivalent has been rounded to £5 per person.
Our aim is to provide this Zakat through cash to the needy families before Eid so they are given the opportunity to buy their personal necessities and bring happiness to their children, whether this is through toys, sweets or new clothes.
By donating £5 as Fitrana, you will be making a massive impact on the Palestinian families.
“The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) ordained Zakat al Fitr to purify the fasting person from indecent words or actions, and to provide food for the needy. It is accepted as zakah for the person who gives it before the Eid prayer, but it is a mere sadaqah for the one who gives it after the prayer.” (Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah)
Do not miss the opportunity during these final days to build the future of our brothers and sisters in Palestine remembering that your rewards will also be multiplied.
Fulfill this beautiful pillar of Islam this Ramadan and donate now!
